QuickBooks Transitions to a Subscription Model

February 2, 2022

It’s a trend: software moving to a monthly or yearly subscription model rather than a single download you can use indefinitely. QuickBooks is the latest company to transition. At the end of September, the popular accounting software began charging a low monthly payment for its online service rather than a single lump sum. Subscribers can choose among a number of options.

Basic pricing

QB comes in four levels:

  • Simple Start — a basic accounting package.
  • Essentials — a plan that also includes bill management and time tracking for up to three users.
  • Plus — the most popular plan, with inventory and project profitability for up to five users.
  • Advanced — a package that includes a wide range of advanced modules for up to 25 users.

More details are available on the QB site.

QuickBooks Enterprise

Companies with more robust needs may want an Enterprise subscription, which comes in Gold, Platinum and Diamond levels. These contain modules for advanced payroll, bill workflow approvals, custom roles and permissions, and more.
